Schiff’s Food Service, Inc. Acquires Korte & CO., Inc.

With this acquisition Schiff’s Food Service, Inc. will add Korte & CO., Inc.’s facility in Easton, Pennsylvania as well as an expanded offering of products to their broadline distribution.
SFS, an independent, family-owned foodservice distributor, has acquired Korte, also a family-owned distributor, that specializes in house-made items like beef chip-steak. The official announcement was made Friday, August 19, 2022. The decision to purchase Korte came as third-generation owners, Ernie and Debbie Vogel Bossert, prepared to retire and sought another family-owned business to continue their legacy. SFS will gain a new channel of customers and the ability to ship from the Lehigh Valley through this acquisition.
Ryan Yeager, president of SFS said: “Korte has been a fixture in the Lehigh Valley for decades. We feel their values as a family-owned distributor with a focus on exceptional customer service will make this integration a seamless one.”
The acquisition of Korte fits into the SFS mission to provide personalized foodservice solutions as a dedicated, independent, family-run business. This opportunity will allow SFS to grow their business as well as offer Korte customers a wider selection of products. SFS will be retaining the Korte staff in addition to increasing staffing at that location.

SFS is an independently owned foodservice distributor headquartered in Taylor, Pennsylvania with a service area covering a 100-mile radius, including Northern New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and the Southern tier of New York state. In February of 2021, SFS acquired the distribution division of K. Heeps in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
