The pickle is having more than a moment.

This crunchy fan favorite has become something of an icon. From buttoning up a burger to starring in TikTok challenges, pickles truly have the range to go the distance.

On this month’s summer flyer, you’ll find several new ways to incorporate pickles on your menu, from pizza to pierogies! After all those delicious dishes, you’ll undoubtedly have leftover liquid. Don’t toss those jars just yet! We’ve got some great ways to put leftover pickle juice to use.

BUT FIRST, you’ll need to make sure it’s worthy of a second life.

Start by doing a visual inspection. Is there any mold or other “floaters” on the sides, lid, or surface? If so, discard this jar.

Next, strain it! You’ll want to get rid of any spices left behind in the jar until you’re left with a clear liquid.

Finally, taste it. You want to make sure what’s left behind is something you’re prepared to incorporate into your recipes. You’ll also need to know just how briny it is.

Now you’re ready to get creating!

Here are 10 ways to use pickle juice, in the kitchen or behind the bar!

  1. Make a Pickled Bloody Mary.

The savory and spicy tastes in a Bloody Mary compliment the briny pickle juice flavor perfectly. For an extra kick, try using the juice from sweet horseradish pickles (#455172). You can also try this recipe from Monin for a Pickled Cucumber Bloody Mary.

  1. Serve up some Pickleback Shots.

A “pickleback” is simply a shot of juice/brine that follows a shot of whiskey. Does shooting down some pickle brine after your whiskey count as a “green juice?” We’ll let you decide.

  1. Make your dirty martini a dilly martini.

Swap the olive brine in your dirty martini for pickle brine. Serve with a mini gherkin garnish.

  1. Marinade your meats.

Use to marinade chicken, steaks, or pork chops for an extra layer of flavor.

  1. Add a tang to your salads.

Pasta salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, even chicken or tuna salad can all benefit from a dash of pickle juice!

  1. Add a zip to your dip.

Have a plain hummus that needs a lift? Add a dash of pickle juice and garnish with fresh dill and chopped pickles. You now have a signature pickle hummus!
